Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve updated. So, what has been happening with us? Well, last week Decker started running a fever. He got sent home from daycare on Tuesday because it was 101.5, which also meant he had to stay home on Wednesday because they have a rule that the child must be fever-free for 24 hours. I called the doctor and the nurse told me to give him Tylenol and Ibuprofen and that should break his fever. That night was pitiful. I think he woke up 4 different times crying, poor baby. Scott stayed home with him on Wednesday and took him into the doctor to find out he had a temp of 104, a double ear infection and a swollen throat. 😦 However, they prescribed some really strong antibiotics and he has been back to normal since he took his first dose.
Poor baby. This was right after Scott gave him his first dose of medicine in the Rite Aid parking lot. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look more pitiful.
I know I mentioned it before, but he absolutely loves having us read to him. But he is so funny because I bought him a couple of new books at Target the other day and he refuses to read them. When we tell him to go grab a book, he goes and will intentionally lay the new books aside and pick up one of his old faves. His love of reading makes us really happy because we used to try to read to him and he was never really interested.
Another thing I know I mentioned before but really can’t describe in words is how much he loves his sleep. Some nights, he will really start to get fussy when it’s close to his bedtime (7:00). He will walk down the hallway to his room, whining, and stand outside his door. Once I get him inside to change his diaper and into pajamas, it’s like he can’t get into the crib fast enough and he gets very impatient, reaching towards the bed. LOL. Then, once I turn out the lights, he starts giggling because he knows he gets to lay down soon. It’s really great, but a little odd…I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of a baby who enjoys going to bed like that.
And he’s starting to climb all over everything. He tries to get up onto the couch and usually can’t without our help, but last night he finally managed to climb into the arm chair all by himself. Of course, once he’s up there he thinks it’s a great idea to stand up, bounce and lean over the arm of the chair. We have to watch him like a hawk now.
He still loves daycare and recently, one of his daily reports said that he enjoyed dancing to some Jay-Z music. We also discovered last night that he digs the Weather Channel music. Scott had it on and Decker started bopping up and down. 🙂 Here is what his report said for today:
Decker had a good day. Today we read some books about babies and going to sleep during group time. Later, Decker and the other kids pretended to put baby dolls to sleep and in the end they were trying to put each other night night, as they call it. Decker also covered up his bus and tried to put it to sleep.
Is that funny or what?!
In non-Decker news, both of our jobs are going well. I even convinced Scott that I need a Macbook so that I could work on my photo editing and scrapbooking while spending time with him (aka being in the same room.) So that is my new “toy.” I love that I am able to blog in bed now and edit photos while sitting on the couch. Life is definitely busier with both of us working, but we’re slowly working it out. We have a pretty good daily schedule and this week, I came up with a workout plan so I can workout twice during the week, plus the weekends and not miss out on much time with Decker. Meal preparation is still a work in progress…we have been getting takeout waaay too much, but we’re working on it.
So, that’s our life for now. Busy, but good and healthy (for now, anyways). 🙂
